The STOP THT 40 collective is a group of citizens who oppose an ecocide project carried out by RTE.

This project called INELFE (France Spain Electrical Interconnection) is an electrical interconnection made up of 4 400,000 Volt cables, carrying an extraordinary power of 2000 MW, the equivalent of the power of two nuclear reactors.

Initially completely underwater, RTE was unable to crossthe gouf of Capbreton and will bypass it through 5 municipalities (Seignosse, Angresse, Soorts-Hossegor, Bénesse Maremne, Capbreton) in residential areas, forests, cycle paths, dunes and beaches.

THECNPN, National Council for Nature Protection has issued aUNFAVORABLE OPINION due to the environmental impact of this project and recommends a completely land route along railway or motorway infrastructure, on degraded land and not in the extremely fragile ecosystems of dunes, beaches, the ocean, and Landes forests .
RTE remains deaf to this opinion issued by a scientific and technical body, and the State supports RTE in its disastrous choices by signing authorizations for the destruction of protected species.

2 years of requests for a round table, for consensus, proved useless in the face of the omnipotence of RTE, and its systematic refusal of any form of communication with citizens.

Today, permissionsDUPand environmental authorizations were signed by the responsible minister Madame Agnès PANNIER RUNACHER, and the prefectures of Gironde, Landes and Pyrénées Atlantiques, it is therefore against the State that we are initiating legal proceedings.
We must preserve the Ocean and this territory for future generations. 

We recall that by decision of September 20, 2022, the Council of State enshrined a brand new fundamental freedom: “The right of everyone to live in a balanced environment that respects health” (CE, September 20, 2022, n°451129 .

This project infringes on our fundamental freedom and we intend to put an end to this attack on the environment which is not seriously contestable, and which finds its cause in the refusal to respect the recommendations of theCNPN, guarantor of our environment.
